Selecting a Fan for Warm and High-Temperature Gas

Gas temperature matters because hot air is less dense, so a fan develops less pressure and the connected motor draws different power as the gas heats up. Our standard centrifugal fan series are rated for gas temperatures up to 80 °C, which covers the great majority of ventilation, milling and conveying duties as well as combustion-air supply to furnaces.

When selecting for warm gas, always correct the required pressure to the actual operating density and size the motor for the cold-start condition, when the air is densest and the power draw highest. If your process runs hotter than the standard limit, tell us the temperature and we will advise on material, clearances and whether a special high-temperature construction is needed.
