Centrifugal and axial fans move air in fundamentally different ways. An axial fan pushes air straight through along the shaft axis and excels at moving large volumes at low pressure — think cooling and free-air ventilation. A centrifugal fan throws air outward through an impeller and turns it 90°, generating far higher static pressure, which is what you need to push air through ducts, filters, furnaces and conveying pipework.
For most industrial duties with ducting or system resistance — workshop ventilation, grain-mill aspiration, forging combustion air or pneumatic conveying — a centrifugal fan is the right choice. Our 4-72, GM, 9-26 and 6-30 series are all centrifugal designs sized for these pressure-driven applications. If your only requirement is high flow with almost no resistance, an axial fan may be cheaper; once a duct, filter or process resistance is involved, centrifugal wins on stability and efficiency.
